In conjunction with the Lions Club, Drs. Franklin and Altman have served the vision needs of hundreds of people in the surrounding area by offering exams and eyeglasses to disadvantaged citizens. The Lions Club has actively promoted sight conservation in our community and provides resources and financial support for those who are visually impaired. Franklin-Altman is also a site for collection of used eyeglasses that will be redistributed to individuals worldwide with vision problems.
The Special Olympics Lion’s Club International Opening Eyes Program is dedicated to providing eye care for people with disabilities. Drs. Franklin and Altman support this program by participating in screenings, education on healthy vision, and eye examinations.
Through the Opening Eyes program, athletes are able to experience sports wear and easy-to-wear eyeglasses and feel the functionality and comfort first hand, whether it is during regular daily activities or sports activities.
